Description: Fox Creek was founded by Jim and Helen Watts in 1984. The estate is located in the premier South Australian region of McLaren Vale. The region is renowned for red wines, particularly shiraz. Fox creek has a solid reputation for wines that have been recognised with many awards and trophies from national and regional wine shows. Fox Creek has 60ha of vineyard spanning a km radius, not far from the village of Willunga. Fox Creek wines are produced entirely from grapes grown in the McLaren Vale region. Tremendous importance is placed on caring for vines with open trellising, minimal chemical inputs and optimal timing of harvest. They employ an environmentally friendly focus and use sustainable practices where possible. Vineyards are surrounded with plantings of indigenous trees that provide habitat, food and shelter for native birds. Senior winemaker, Scott Zrna aims to craft high quality premium wines.
Tasting Note: Medium to full red-purple; rich, ripe blackberry and cassis aromas are mirrored in the palate, which does however dip slightly in the middle, rising again with lingering tannins and subtle oak on the finish.
