Standish The Relic Shiraz Viognier 2007 3L
Item No.: WDAR1650
Winery: The Standish Wine Company
Region(s): Barossa Valley
Appellation: --
Variety: 96% Shiraz, 4% Viognier
Description: This wine is produced by former Torbreck winemaker Dan Standish. Whilst the wines stylistically bare some resemblance to Torbreck' s in terms of concentration and power they are not quite as super ripe and display slightly more structure. The Standish wines have been almost exclusively restricted to export markets in the past and only now are we beginning to see them make an appearance on the domestic scene. Fruit was sourced from the Standish Family vineyard planted in 1912 in Barossa Valley. Fine white sand over deep heavy red clay at 302m above sea level.
Tasting Note: Fragrantly scented, taughtly structured and finely poised – this femme fatale represents the more reserved face of the Barossa. Delicately portioned and beautifully balanced its fragrant notes of acacia petal, Creme de Cassis and Parfait Amour are supported by an underlying swath of Szechuan pepper, Guatemalan cocoa and damp limestone. Supple and lithe.
